Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy refers to the use of electrical energy for treatment. Several scientifically validated types of electrotherapy are classified according to the frequency of the current applied to the painful area.

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)

TENS relieves acute and chronic pain by stopping the transmission of pain signals to the central nervous system.

Diadynamic Current

Diadynamic current, which is of low frequency, is primarily used for the treatment of painful syndromes and to improve circulation in painful areas.

Interferential Current

Interferential current, with medium frequency, acts on motor nerves, has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, and significantly promotes bone healing after fractures.

Galvanization

Galvanization enhances the sensitivity and conductivity of nerves, affecting nerve endings that transmit pain.

Electrostimulation

Electrostimulation induces muscle contractions through electrical impulses, which helps in the prevention or treatment of muscle atrophy and is usually combined with specific exercises.
